KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Lake Tahoe Community College women's soccer team jumped two spots in the United Soccer Coaches Junior College DIII Rankings, it was announced Tuesday.
The Coyotes, who debuted at No. 6 in the preseason poll, moved up to No. 4 following a weekend of close matches against nationally ranked opponents.
LTCC started the year 2-0 by scoring a combined eight goals in wins over Evergreen Valley (3-2) and College of Sequoias (5-3).
Head coach
Jeremy Evans' squad spent the Labor Day holiday weekend in Southern California at the Nike/Azteca Tournament.
The Coyotes led 3-1 against preseason-No. 13 Mt. SAC before two late goals allowed the Mounties to steal a point at home.
Two days later, LTCC took the lead over then-No. 5 Saddleback College, but eventually fell 2-1 due to two unanswered goals by the Bobcats. Saddleback moved to No. 3 in Sept. 2's national poll.
LTCC (2-1-1), the 2024 NorCal Regional finalist, has a week off before resuming play Sept. 9 at Cosumnes River College.
