SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Community College men's soccer team is in first place following the first week of Golden Valley Conference play.
The Coyotes (6-4-2, 3-0 GVC) swept their three-game conference home stand, Sept. 30-Oct. 7, combining to outscore its opponents, 19-4, in the process.
They snapped a three-game winless run with an 8-1 thrashing of Shasta College on Sept. 30. Eight different Coyotes scored.
Jesus Mendoza had a goal and two assists while
Ian Andrade and
Rylee Collart each had a goal and an assist.
Three days later,
Quinton Alewine provided the difference with both goals in a 2-0 victory over Feather River. Mendoza once again came through with an assist while
John Gonzalez preserved a shutout with 10 total saves.
Alewine continued his good form on Oct. 7 in a 9-3 win over Siskiyous, adding another pair of goals and two assists. He was joined by
Angel Gonzalez and
Mason Franks who also scored twice.
The Coyotes continue conference play on Oct. 10 when they face College of the Redwoods (10am) and Shasta College (1:30pm) in Redding.
