No. 4 LTCC takes on some of California's best over week-long road trip

Coyotes go 1-1-1 in three games over six days away from home.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The No. 4 Lake Tahoe Community College women's soccer team spent the week on the road and put together a 1-1-1 record against some of the top teams in California.

The week started off in Visalia with a 5-3 victory over College of the Sequoias. LTCC's Alyssa Allan headlined the effort by scoring twice with an assist. Avery Hayes, Karina Vargas and Emily Brandt each logged a goal and an assist.

The Coyotes spent Labor Day Weekend at Mt. San Antonio College's Nike/Azteca Tournament and faced two top-20 teams.

On Friday against host No. 13 Mt. SAC, the Coyotes fell behind early, but Allan equalized in the 10th minute. Darleen Minier put the Coyotes ahead before halftime and Brandt increased the lead to 3-1 in the 71st.

However, the Mounties mounted a late comeback, scoring two goals in the final nine minutes to force a 3-3 draw.

The Coyotes once again found themselves ahead early in the Nike/Azteca finale against 5th-ranked Saddleback. Anaya Thiele found Brandt for a score in the 20th minute, only for Saddleback to equalize 10 minutes later.

The Bobcats netted the game winner in the 73rd minute for a 2-1 victory.

LTCC (2-1-1) has a week off to recover, but resumes play Sept. 9 at Cosumnes River College before hosting Delta College on Sept. 12.
