Bio
Maddie Smith was named head women's soccer coach at Lake Tahoe Community College in April 2026.
A former Lake Tahoe Community College student-athlete, Maddie Smith returns to LTCC as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach with a passion for developing student-athletes and building a championship culture. After helping lead the Coyotes to a Final Four appearance in 2019 while recording 15 shutouts, Smith continued her playing career through every level of collegiate soccer, culminating at the NCAA Division I level with the University of Maryland and Florida State University. She returned to LTCC after serving as a collegiate goalkeeper coach and is committed to creating opportunities for the next generation of student-athletes.
As a player, Smith built an impressive résumé. She competed at the Division I level for Maryland before finishing her collegiate career at Florida State, where she was a member of the 2024 ACC Tournament Championship team. Throughout her collegiate career, she earned multiple National Team of the Week honors, recorded double-digit shutouts, and established herself as one of the nation’s top goalkeepers. Smith has also competed in the USLW and UWS, winning a USLW National Championship while continuing to pursue opportunities in the professional game.
In addition to her collegiate success, Smith has earned numerous individual accolades throughout her playing career, including:
- ACC Tournament Champion
- USLW National Champion
- Chattanooga FC Goalkeeper of the Year
- WPSL Southeast Goalkeeper of the Conference
- WPSL Southeast Best XI
- NorCal Junior College Goalkeeper of the Year
- Multiple National Team of the Week selections
- Multiple Goalkeeper of the Week honors
- Big Ten Player of the Week honors
Before returning to LTCC, Smith gained valuable collegiate coaching experience as the Assistant Goalkeeper Coach at Bellevue University while also working alongside the Florida State women’s soccer program. She has coached goalkeepers of all levels and brings experience in recruiting, player development, match analysis, and program building. Her background as both a high-level player and coach allows her to mentor student-athletes pursuing opportunities at four-year universities and beyond.
Smith’s coaching philosophy centers on developing complete student-athletes through high standards, accountability, relentless work ethic, and a growth mindset. She believes championship programs are built through daily habits, strong culture, and genuine relationships. Her vision for LTCC is to establish one of the premier community college women’s soccer programs in the country while preparing players for success academically, athletically, and personally.
“Lake Tahoe Community College gave me the opportunity to chase my dreams as a student-athlete. I’m honored to return home and help our players create their own path to success, whether that’s transferring to a four-year university, playing professionally, or becoming leaders in their communities.”
