Playoff run ends in 3C2A NorCal Regional second round
No. 8-seeded Lake Tahoe fell to No. 9-seeded Evergreen Valley 2-0 in San Jose.
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The No. 8-seeded Lake Tahoe Community College women's soccer team's playoff run ended with a 2-0 loss to No. 9-seeded Evergreen Valley on Saturday night in the 3C2A NorCal Regional second round.
The Coyotes end the season 12-6-4 overall after earning at least a share of the Golden Valley Conference title for the eighth season in a row.
The Hawks got on the scoreboard in the 68th minute on Bianca Ahumada's free kick. Three minutes later, LTCC's Emily Brandt had a good look, but her attempt was saved by the LTCC goalkeeper.
EVC added a goal in extra time.
LTCC entered the match ranked No. 10 nationally and spent five weeks inside the United Soccer Coaches Junior College DIII Women's Soccer Rankings. The Coyotes were as high as No. 4 on Sept. 2.
The Coyotes went on a 10-game unbeaten run (9-0-1) between Sept. 28 and Nov. 4.
Evergreen Valley (16-6-1), ranked No. 4 nationally, moves on to play top-seeded Folsom Lake (20-0-2) on Tuesday, Nov. 25. EVC matched its program record for wins and will compete in Round 3 for the first time in school history.
