Oltmanns captures GVC 5000m title, three Coyotes advance to NorCal Championships
LTCC men’s and women’s track and field teams made the most of their final opportunity to secure postseason marks.
OROVILLE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Community College men's and women's track and field teams made the most of their final opportunity to secure postseason marks by delivering strong performances at the Golden Valley Conference Championships at Butte College.
Kyle Oltmanns highlighted the meet by taking home the GVC Championship title in the 5000m with a winning time of 17:03.44. Oltmanns also secured a podium spot in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing in second place with a time of 10:30.6.
In the middle distances, Joel Nord continued his strong season by capturing second place in the men's 800m, crossing the finish line in 1:59.24. Elijah Gilleland also turned in a solid showing, running a 4:13.15 in the 1500m and a 2:10.92 in the 800m.
Nord, Oltmanns, and Gilleland have officially qualified to advance to the 3C2A NorCal Track and Field Championships, May 1-2.
On the women's side, Shanaya Tolby pulled double duty, representing LTCC in both the 800m (2:50.48) and the 1500m (6:06.36).
The men's squad also saw competitive efforts in the 800m from Kenneth Walden (2:14.21), Yan Bautista (2:18.81), and Casyn Lima Po (2:32.44). Bautista also added a time of 4:50.02 in the 1500m.
