Mendoza scores, but Coyotes have three points snatched at the death
The Coyotes finish 6-1-3 in Golden Valley Conference play.
CHICO, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Community College men's soccer team went on the road and drew with Butte College, 1-1, on Friday afternoon at Chico State Soccer Stadium.
Jesus Mendoza finished off an Alex Avina assist to put the Coyotes ahead 20 minutes in, but the hosts got their equalizer in the 88th to force a share of the point.
Mendoza has been a key piece of the LTCC attack during the final week of the regular season. The sophomore from Pasadena, Texas had two assists in a draw against Redwoods on Tuesday before his goal on Friday. He has six goals and eight assists on the year.
Despite the draw, LTCC (10-5-5, 6-1-3 GVC) is guaranteed at least a runner-up finish in the GVC. They now wait for the final results from first-place No. 11 Feather River (15-4-0, 7-1-0 GVC), who still has two conference matches remaining.
