LTCC earns four points in two days, sits in second in the GVC
The Coyotes stifled Siskiyous 5-0 and drew with College of the Redwoods, 2-2.
REDDING, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Community College men's soccer team has an outside shot at the Golden Valley Conference title following a victory over College of the Siskiyous and a thrilling draw with College of the Redwoods.
LTCC (10-5-4, 6-1-2 GVC) will most likely need to beat Butte College (10-8-1, 5-3-0 GVC) in its regular season finale on Nov. 7 and get some help from first-place No. 11 Feather River (15-4-0, 7-1-0 GVC). Feather River has two matches remaining and can clinch with three points out of those games.
The only reason this scenario exists is due to some late-game heroics from the Coyotes. Down 2-0 with five minutes remaining against Redwoods, Mason Franks scored in the 85th before Elijah Rivera came through with the equalizer just two minutes from full time. Jesus Mendoza assisted on both goals.
For Franks, it was his GVC-leading 12th goal of the season.
LTCC is 7-1-2 over its last 10 matches since Sept. 19.
